While all my work holds its own special place in my heart, maternity, I think, is the nearest and dearest. Something about watching the mamas grow and change and carry LIFE inside of them, documenting the fleeting days before their life changes forever. It fills me up like nothing else.
Last spring, I saw THIS dress online and knew I had to photograph it. Caitlyn mentioned she was interested in wearing it (her very subtle way of announcing her pregnancy!) and I was overjoyed. We chatted and I tried to explain my vision; a badlands-like backdrop, something desert-ish and plain so that the colours of the dress really popped. Cowboy boots because I love them. I remembered a location south of Calgary, a friend took me once and it was much closer than driving 2+ hours to the real badlands.
If you’ve met Caitlyn, well…I don’t really need to tell you how incredible she is. She is overflowing with genuine, infectious joy. Spending the evening with her felt like spending a few hours with a dear friend.
